I haven't written in over 30 weeks, as some kind friend pointed out to me today. Funny, but I have been thinking of writing again and wondering what my friends have been up to. So, thanks princess, for reminding me that there are others out there.
Loved reading how you are finishing your school years and getting ready for the summer. I always debate the pool thing. My girls are still in the little wading pool (not the teenagers!), but the little ones. One year I bought a more permanent pool in the yard option, but we found a dead bird in it twice and that was all it took for the girls to decide they didn't like the pool. Then, we had a lovely brown circle that had to grow back! But we don't live in a ritzy town, anyway.
Life in the shoe continues to be happy and chaotic. We have settled in a lot more to our life without D. It will be a year this August, so that is surprising to me...seems longer.
We went to Knoebel's (which is like Kennywood or Hersheypark, but in the shade!) and had so much fun. We are planning to get our swimming in at a state park about 30 minutes away.
My garden is finally starting to do well, after Peter, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail decided to move on...no thanks to the huge black dog that is supposed to SCARE THEM away! The broccoli plants have not recovered from having all the leaves eaten off, so I planted cucumbers around them, just in case they would happen to rejuvinate...the bare green stems are now safely hidden by the cuke-vines. Twice, two tomato plants have disappeared. One day, as I went to check on the garden, I noticed that they weren't there...dug around, no roots, stems, leaves, nothing. So I got two more and put them in the same spot (I planted 10 total plants, hoping to can or freeze). they were gone the next day...without a trace...now the third pair are there, but they are not looking to happy in that spot, but they haven't disappeared...I was beginning to think I had a garden spot that acted like the Bermuda Triangle.
I have already enrolled 5 of the six girls in cyber school for the fall. We are so excited...I am very excited to have the support of teachers for me and for the girls. This fall I will have a freshman, a 7th grader, 5th grader, 3rd grader, and one in K. The girls are definitely looking forward to getting their own computers.
So for the summer, we are looking forward to an upcoming visit to upstate New York to visit my bestest friend and her family. Then in July, we are going to the Outer Banks for a week. Summer just ain't summer without a trip to the beach. I am ready to start packing now.
